Increasing the viability of an independent living, luxury retirement village

Gleeds was appointed as cost manager on Palm Lake development, located half way between Brisbane city and the Gold Coast. The project is one of 25 facilities which support individuals across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

Designed to complement a lakeside setting, the dining room and lounge deck of the care home are partially situated over water. To bring residents closed to nature, the 118 bedrooms in the home have access to an external courtyard.

The project was delivered to a very constrained budget and the team was required to navigate unique challenges specific to the project location. This included consideration of local fauna and fauna, in particular water wrens, breeding swans and turtles, prior to and during the construction process.
